Bracing for Impact : When a person anƟcipates a collision and braces their foot against the floor or dashboard, the resulƟng forces during the collision can lead to an MCL injury. Symptoms and Effects of an MCL Injury: Immediate Pain : There's usually pain on the inner side of the knee, which intensifies with movement or pressure. Swelling : Swelling will generally develop in the hours following the injury and will be localized to the inner side of the knee. SƟffness: The knee may become sƟff, limiƟng the range of moƟon. Instability: Individuals might feel that their knee is "giving way" or feel unstable, especially when puƫng weight on it. Bruising : Over Ɵme, bruising might appear around the injured area. Signs to IdenƟfy an MCL Injury: Tenderness on PalpaƟon : The inner side of the knee will be tender to the touch, specifically over the MCL.
